78/hour Non-Exempt – Overtime Eligible Job Summary: Under general supervision, the Arts Program Leader will assist in a variety of tasks associated with the organization and implementation of programs and services at the City of Lancaster’s MOAH: CEDAR campus.
Art Program Leaders assist in the day-to-day operations of the MOAH: CEDAR campus, as well as, support the weekly roster of public programs, and activate the MOAH: CEDAR galleries’ ongoing, community-based exhibitions.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None Example of Duties & Responsibilities: Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Assists in the preparation, organization, and facilitation of MOAH: CEDAR’s specialized programs including but not limited to Spotlight Café Open Mic Night, Concert Series, Zine Workshops and Social, Board Game Café, Movie Nights, Live Figure Drawing Sessions, and other special events.
Guides regular exhibition tours and hosts specialized workshops.
Organizes and staff community outreach events taking place across Los Angeles County and beyond.
Writes educational materials, including but not limited to, tour scripts, project proposals, educational resources, and website text.
Works with community stakeholders, such as artists, collectives, or other community-based organizations to deliver MOAH: CEDAR’s programs.
Set up and tear down of special events.
Maintain clean and organized facilities.
Perform related duties as required.
Required Skills: Ability to organize Understand and follow written and oral instructions Deal tactfully and effectively with staff, participants, and the public Ability to interpret and carry out a variety of instructions furnished in written oral, diagram, or schedule form possess interpersonal communication skills both verbal and written ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
Ability to work independently in the absence of supervision; ability to work in a team environment; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; ability to work with all levels of employees and management, and willingness to give assistance to co-workers Must be able to work approximately 18 hours a week, which includes weekends and some evenings.
Must be well organized, highly motivated, and possess good writing, typing, speaking, and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of or an interest in, and appreciation of, the visual arts and history is preferred.
Ability to organize and coordinate a variety of duties related to assigned projects.
Ability to assist in organizing and implementing cultural activities.
Ability to perform clerical functions; observe safety principles and work in a safe manner.
Education and Experience: Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for acceptable job performance.
Currently enrolled in a college or university majoring in Arts or a related field is desirable.
Spanish language fluency is desirable.
