Description:
Position Summary:
Perform routine kitchen duties, including setting up food service areas, assist in meal preparation, meal serving, sanitation, cleanliness of kitchen, and cleanliness of student lounge.
The essential functions of the role include, but are not limited to, the following:
Assists with the day-to-day operation of the kitchen to prepare, breakfast, lunch and dinners.
Prepares and serves according to the kitchen’s recipes, portioning, cooking and serving standards.
Sets up and stocks food items and other necessary supplies.
Prepares food items for service using different cooking methods.

Maintains cleanliness and complies with food sanitation requirements by properly handling food and ensuring proper storage.
Assists with cleaning of equipment and facility to ensure all areas are kept clean and in excellent working condition.
Maintains appropriate cleaning schedules for kitchen floors, mats, walls, hoods, other equipment and food storage areas.
Restocks and cleans all kitchen service areas e.

, cafeteria, breakfast bar, student kitchenette and vending areas.
Assists with housing functions as required e.

, cleaning and linen laundry.
Follows all company policies and procedures.
Assists with tasks as floater for departments that might need assistance within corporation.
Requirements:
Required Skills, Abilities, and Experience:
A minimum of 1 year of experience in food preparation and facilities cleaning.
Maintains all required food handling certifications, e.
g.
, Servsafe.
Must be skilled in preparing a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, dairy, and other food items using knives, electric mixers, immersion blenders, food processors, scales, and portion bags.
Must be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen and dining room personnel and guests.
Uses proper personnel protective equipment (PPE) appropriately at all times.
Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
Attention to detail.
Works cooperatively or independently and inspires a team effort with all.
Must be highly organized and able to work under deadlines.
Must be able to work safely with minimal supervision.
Computer skills including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
Excellent communication skills.

Desired Skills and Knowledge:
At least 1 year experience of proven cooking experience, including experience as a Line Cook, or Prep Cook.
Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks.
Familiar with industry’s best practices.
Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, kitchen management software, POS)
Education and Certification Requirements:
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Required: Legal ability to work in the United States.
Required: Valid Driver’s License and ability to pass a pre-employment motor vehicle record and background check.
Required: Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and maintain a drug-free status.
Required: Obtain Servsafe certification within 30 days of employment
