Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Director 1 of Vehicle Engineering.
This leadership position will report to the Director of Vehicle Engineering for the Aeronautics Sector.
This leadership position may require travel, but will be permanently located in Palmdale, California.
The individual selected for this position will provide functional leadership to the Vehicle Engineering directorate of employees located in Palmdale, CA and Oklahoma City, OK with aircraft skills including (but not limited to) structural design, analysis (stress), liaison, flight sciences, subsystems, materials, and standards.
Successful leadership of this organization will require agile staffing, driving competitiveness through development and deployment of world-class people, processes, tools, and products.
The Director’s responsibilities include providing strategic and operational leadership for the Vehicle Engineering directorate.
The position duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following: Provide leadership, shape strategic vision and direction, as well as provide oversight of all major functions within VE High-level responsibilities include risk management, schedule and cost status/reviews, and program level briefings to leadership and/or customers Responsible for long range strategic planning and all aspects of functional homeroom performance Provide ownership for the people, processes, and tools that support divisions and programs to achieve their missions Expected special assignments include proposal support, independent technical reviews, program standup reviews, and technical audits Candidate needs to work well with a team and possess exceptional written and oral communication skills, including experience with executive reviews and presentations The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership characteristics, a commitment to ethics and integrity, exemplify strong employee engagement and accountability, and foster a culture of diversity and inclusion.
He or she will inspire innovation and engineering process excellence while challenging the traditional way of doing business.
Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 14 years of Aerospace experience, demonstrating the ability to plan, estimate, organize, integrate, and manage technical activities and organizations a fast-paced, high-performing contractor/government environment with quantifiable results and accomplishments OR Master's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 12 years of Aerospace experience, demonstrating the ability to plan, estimate, organize, integrate, and manage technical activities and organizations a fast-paced, high-performing contractor/government environment with quantifiable results and accomplishments OR Ph.
D in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 9 years of Aerospace experience, demonstrating the ability to plan, estimate, organize, integrate, and manage technical activities and organizations a fast-paced, high-performing contractor/government environment with quantifiable results and accomplishments Experience with program/project reviews, research and development activities, process improvement plans, proposal reviews, and capital planning Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance and special access program (SAP) clearance within a year of start of employment.
Preferred Qualifications: Active DoD Secret Clearance.
Master’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline or management discipline.
Proven history of leadership Experience in proposal writing and captures Experience in creating presentations and briefing executive leadership Experience interfacing with a DoD customer.
Ability to collaborate within a team and across team environments.
Ability to prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish desired results.
Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and/or accomplishing them simultaneously.
Ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Salary Range: $209,600 - $314,400 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
