78/hour Non-Exempt – Overtime Eligible Job Summary: This position is part of the PARCS department within the Community Services division and is dedicated to enhancing the lives of older adults in our community by providing tailored programming and activities.
Under general supervision, the Recreation Program Leader is responsible for planning, organizing, and leading a diverse array of recreational and educational activities at various community hubs like parks, community centers, and other specialized program centers.
Program activities encompass areas like promotion of health and wellness, arts and crafts, sports, music, drama, and education.
Additionally, this position also requires commitment and participation in special events.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None Example of Duties & Responsibilities: Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Assist in conducting activities in the community and/or other City of Lancaster facilities Assist at programs with elements of fitness (i.
e.
, walking clubs, stretch classes, yoga, dance, and/or aerobics), games, music, sports, crafts, drama, and educational workshops; develop and direct weekly lesson plans and activities Provide minor first aid to program participants/spectators and/or perform related first aid/emergency techniques as needed Adhere to and enforce safety rules and regulations, and maintain orderly participant conduct during events Operate with the highest level of customer service with internal and external customers, workers, supervisors, and community stakeholders Maintain a high level of vigilance during programs and events Actively engage with the public while performing duties at programs and events Ensure facilities are opened and closed according to scheduled use; securely lock facility upon departure Maintain cleanliness of work area/facility, ensuring permitted areas are safe, clean, and operational Facilitate in the setup and tear down of City organized events and programs Inspect program areas and equipment and recommend maintenance and repair as needed Participate in required scheduled trainings Be flexible and adaptable Take initiative in a fast-paced work environment Perform related duties as assigned Required Skills: Ability to organize, plan, direct, and lead adult group activities Write reports and keep accurate documentation Understand and follow written and oral instructions Exercise courtesy and tact when interacting with staff, participants, and the public; manage challenging or stressful situations calmly and professionally Education and Experience: Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for acceptable job performance.
