With vintage models priced out of reach for the average player, Epiphone offers the AJ-220SCE Solid Top featuring a Solid Sitka Spruce Top with elegant cutaway in Ebony, Natural or Vintage Sunburst finish and a Solid Mahogany top in new Mahogany Burst finish.
Rich tonewoods like Solid Sitka and Mahogany will "bloom" and become more resonant with age and playing time.

The AJ-220SCE body is made from Select Mahogany and comes with a Solid Mahogany neck with a smooth satin finish and a SlimTaper C-profile.
The neck is glued to the body with TiteBond glue and a traditional dovetail joint.
The 25.
5" scale neck has a Granadillo fingerboard with a 12" radius, 20 medium jumbo frets, and a 2-way adjustable truss rod.
The body has 6-layer binding on the top and single layer white binding on the fingerboard along with a tortoise-colored pickguard with traditional metal "E" to protect the top against pick marks.
The reverse belly bridge, also traditional to the AJ body style, is made from Granadillo and has a compensated saddle.
Shadow Electronics
The AJ-220SCE features the state-of-the-art Shadow Performer Tuner preamp and NanoFlex pickup system for true acoustic tone when plugged into an acoustic amp or PA system.
Shadow's Performer Tuner preamp, located on the upper bout of the body, allows you easy control of the tone of your instrument including a built-in Chromatic Tuner, Master Volume, Bass, Treble, Low Battery indicator, and a Phase switch to help eliminate unwanted feedback.
Plus the Tuner/Mute button allows you to mute your AJ-220SCE when plugging in to avoid loud 'pops'.
The Performer Tuner preamp is powered by two 2032 lithium watch batteries that provide significantly longer life than heavy 9-volt batteries.
Under the AJ-220SCE's compensated saddle is Shadow's proprietary NanoFlex low-impedance pickup.
The NanoFlex's unique and flexible sensing material features integrated active electronics accentuate string vibrations and body vibrations for a truly acoustic tone without the harshness of piezo pickups.

The AJ-220SCE includes nickel hardware including a 1/4" output jack and Die-cast machine heads with vintage styled "kidney buttons" with a 14:1 tuning ratio.
