*Position Overview: *
SALVA seeks a well-organized, collaborative and motivated Development Associate to manage day-to-day operations of the development department and grow the SALVA donor base.
The Development Associate will work collaboratively with the development, communications and program teams to build a comprehensive fundraising strategy, recruit, solicit and cultivate donors, and further raise our profile among philanthropic institutions and individuals.
This position will build and maintain SALVA Salesforce donor database, conduct prospecting research, and design and track the success of solicitations.
Individuals must be detail-oriented and embrace and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Salary placement is commensurate with experience.
*Specific Job Duties: *
* Manage Salesforce donor database, continually improving systems, reports and data quality to support all development activities
* Participate in fundraising planning and strategy development
* Coordinate and ensure timely execution of fundraising activities, such as meeting proposal and report deadlines, and ensuring ongoing, active communication with funders
* Support the implementation of individual donor recruitment, solicitation and retention strategies, including designing and tracking the success of fundraising solicitations.
* Research and identify prospective donors.
* Track accomplishments and collect information and media hits for programmatic evaluation, grant reports and donor communications.
* Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the organization’s mission, strategic plan, programs, and initiatives and effectively convey this information to current and prospective funders.
* Engage in collaborative, positive, and ongoing relationship-building with internal teams and donors.
* Support special events, donor relations, and general duties as needed.
- Research, identify, and evaluate potential funding opportunities from various sources such as government agencies, foundations, and corporations
- Develop and write grant proposals and applications to secure funding for projects and programs
- Collaborate with program managers and staff to gather necessary information for grant proposals
- Ensure compliance with grant requirements and deadlines
- Maintain accurate records of grants, including tracking progress and reporting on outcomes
- Conduct prospect research to identify new funding opportunities
- Assist in budget development and financial reporting for grant-funded projects
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to gather data and information needed for grant applications
- Stay updated on current trends and best practices in grant writing
*Minimum Qualifications: *
* Bachelor’s degree
* Two years of experience in nonprofit development, data analysis and/or database management.
* Excellent written and organizational skills.
* Knowledge and passion for immigrant and workers’ rights issues.
* Strong planning and organizational skills paired with flexibility, adaptability, and creativity.
* Must have the ability to resolve conflicts and respond to inquiries in an appropriate and efficient manner.
* Self-starter with an ability to take initiative and manage multiple priorities
* Ability to gather and synthesize data and prioritize work assignments
* Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
- Excellent writing and editing skills with a strong attention to detail
- Proficiency in using Raiser's Edge or other fundraising databases
- Strong research skills to identify potential funding sources
- Ability to analyze complex information and synthesize it into clear, concise grant proposals
- Knowledge of budgeting principles and experience in developing project budgets
- Strategic planning skills to align grant proposals with organizational goals
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners
- Experience in technical writing for grants or similar documents
- Strong proofreading skills to ensure accuracy in grant applications

Salary: $36,000.
