*Job Description: Produce Manager* The Produce Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Produce department and is an active team member of our grocery store.
The manager must ensure that the department is well-stocked, clean, and priced correctly at all times.
They are also responsible for training and supervising a dedicated grocery team member to maintain standards in their absence.
*Responsibilities* · Ensure that the produce department is well-stocked, cleaned, and merchandised attractively to store standards and seasonally appropriate.
· Maintain appropriate department inventory levels while managing spoilage and shrinkage.
Ordering supplies and inventory through multiple vendors multiple days per week.
· Receive and review all produce deliveries, verifying accuracy and product quality.
Unload pallets and organize and rotate into back-stock storage areas and coolers.
Ensure proper documentation of orders/invoices, payments made, and any voided losses or returns.
· Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and special orders in a professional manner · Responsible for produce department pricing structures ensuring profitability and maintaining a competitive edge in the marketplace.
· Update pricing and enter new items in store register POS system, ensure accurate and precise shelf tagging, and communicate to staff all pertinent price information like sales and special items.
· Communicate current produce department status with management; analyzing trends and suggesting ideas to drive revenue and avoid losses.
· Keep grocery staff informed of specials, new and seasonal products, general produce knowledge (ripe vs spoiled), and updated agricultural news/recall notices to maintain quality control standards, sales and customer satisfaction goals.
· Oversee, train, and schedule a produce team member to maintain department consistency in your absence (two days per week and any vacations).
· Ensure that the produce department adheres to all safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
Health Department audits occur spontaneously and must be anticipated at any time.
Manage routine and deep cleaning of entire department.
· Regular inspection and tracking of equipment and cooler maintenance for produce department.
Any issues or concerns brought to management attention immediately.
· As a store team member, assist with any store immediate needs; such as cashiering when necessary, checking-in delivery drivers, and helping customers with general store questions (or reaching a high shelf).
Customers are our top priority.
· Perform any other related duties as directed by store management or as assigned by the company policies and procedures manual.
*Qualifications* · High school diploma or equivalent required · Previous retail experience in a produce department or related field preferred · Strong knowledge of produce products, including quality standards and seasonal availability · Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth · Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills · Excellent communication skills · Demonstrated ability to teach, motivate, and manage staff · Ability to work independently and to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously · Basic math skills to calculate and determine pricing and profits.

· Flexibility to work morning shifts five days per week, weekends and holidays as required · Cashiering experience a benefit.

*Physical Requirements* · Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to handle objects, cases, and inventory · Frequently required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl · Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds · Work inside cooler at temperatures between 33-40 degrees Fahrenheit for extended periods of time while loading, organizing, and cleaning.
· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus Job Types: Full-time, Part-time Pay: $16.
