Duties
Not limited in performing repairs on electrical, mechanical, and structural components of aviation aircraft and preventive maintenance and major repairs ensuring aircrafts are operable within Federal Aviation Administration and Air Force Guidelines.
Supervise, inspect, evaluate and utilizes machinery to troubleshoot electrical components of aircrafts to include alternators, magnetos, avionics, transponders, airspeed indicators, altitude indicators, fuel indicators, tum coordinators, vertical speed indicators, audio panels, circuits, fuses, interior/ exterior lighting, magnetic chip detectors.
Inspects, evaluates, services, removes and replaces mechanical components of aircrafts to include elastic shock absorber cords, landing gear struts, landing gear wheel bearing, safety wiring or cotter keys, cover plates, cowlings, fairings, pneumatics, heating systems, spark plugs, hose connections, prefabrication fuel lines, fuel/oil strainers and filer elements, batteries, nonstructural cover plates, and nonstructural standard fasteners incidental to operations.
Perform 50-hour, l00-hour, and annual, preventative/major maintenance on assigned aircraft.
Supervise or performs repair upholstery and decorative furnishings of the cabin or cockpit when the repair requires disassembly of any primary structure or operating system or interfere with an operating system or affect primary structure of the aircraft.
Inspects, evaluates, services, removes, and replaces structural components of the aircraft to include landing gear tires, small patches adding reinforcements not changing the contour so as to interfere with proper airflow or major repair when applicable.
Repairs an airframe involving the installation and aligning fuselage and frame parts, strengthening, reinforcing, splicing, and manufacturing of primary structural members of their replacement, when replacement is by fabrication such as riveting or welding.
Performs and supervises maintenance, preventive maintenance, or modification on an aeronautical product shall use the methods, techniques, and practices prescribed in the current manufacturer's maintenance manual or instructions for Continued Airworthiness prepared by its manufacturer; and additional methods, techniques and practices designated by the Authority where the manufacturer's documents were not available.
Shall use the tools, equipment, and test apparatus necessary to assure completion of the work in accordance with accepted industry practices.
If the manufacturer involved recommends special equipment or test apparatus, the person performing maintenance shall use that equipment or apparatus or its equivalent acceptable to the Authority.
Troubleshoots, diagnoses and corrects malfunction of various systems for light aircraft such as landing gear, hydraulic, fuel lubrication, vacuum, induction and exhaust systems, propellers and other systems.
Refinish decorative coating fuselage, wings tail group surfaces (including balanced control surfaces), fairings, cowlings, landing gear, cabin, or cockpit interior when removal or disassembly of any primary structure or operating system is required.
Applying preservative or protective materials to components where disassembly of any primary structure or operating system is involved and where such coating is not prohibited or is not contrary to good practices.
Supervises, inspects and utilizes appropriate materials to maintain the interior and exterior of the aircraft and simulator minimizing corrosion and shall, when the work is performed satisfactorily, make an entry in the maintenance record of that equipment.
Supervises and maintains hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams, their containers and labels, upkeep and maintenance of the Spill Kit stations, apply the requirements of a site safety plan to a working environment, determine the need for and the level of personnel protective equipment, develop health hazard monitoring techniques and procedures.
