The Tehachapi Cement Plant is seeking qualified Electricians.
The Electrician will install, maintain, and repair electrical/electronic systems, components and apparatus for machinery and equipment in an industrial setting.
Responsibilities:
The Electrician’s position is primarily responsible for installation, maintenance, and removal of all types of electrical equipment, conduit, and cables.
This work is performed in all types of environmental conditions, including extreme heat, wet and cold, day and night.
Must be able to climb ladders and stairs, and work from heights of over 80 feet.
Person must be available for callout and overtime at all times of the day and night, including weekends and holidays.
General Requirements: Must be able to perform all technical aspects of the job by using all tools or systems required to perform work.
Must understand and apply all administration and safety procedures throughout the plant.
Requires an ability to read understand and apply all schematics, drawings, technical publications, logic required or related to the job.
Working experience with arc flash safety procedures and proper PPE selection.
Implementation of safety and mechanical interlocks.
Experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting protection relays, VFD’s, soft start, PLC’s, and motor starters.
Correctly size motor/feeder services and protection devices.
Medium voltage procedures, isolation, and testing experience.
Manufacturing Operations: Monitor and perform field inspections on electrical and mechanical equipment.
Understand and perform basic and advanced troubleshooting of electrical systems.
Take action with field equipment and process (reporting, operate, repair, clean, feed, adjust, etc.
) generated by inspections and maintenance engineer.
Maintenance Program: Understand and apply all aspects of the maintenance program (preventive and corrective maintenance, reporting, etc.
).
Maintain, repair, install and replace electrical systems independently or subordinate to technical leadership.
Material Handling: Material handling includes the use and implementation of equipment in support of designated work.
General Plant Equipment: Advanced knowledge of cement operations and equipment processes.
In depth knowledge of electrical equipment operations, maintenance, as well as associated machinery that impacts electrical operations.
Ability to troubleshoot electrical problems and issues.
Safety, Security and Area Inspections: Reports to maintenance engineer any observed safety, security or hazardous conditions.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Completion of an approved apprenticeship program or 3 years Industrial electrical maintenance experience.
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Requires an ability to read understand and apply all schematics, drawings, technical publications, logic required or related to the job.
, including general understanding of basic instrumentation.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
Mathematical Skills: Basic math skills, algebra, Ohm’s law formulas and unit conversions.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems.
Ability to follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations: State certified general electrician highly preferred.
Other Skills and Abilities: Previous experience operating equipment and maintenance tasks preferred.
The selected candidate will be required to join the Union at the facility upon completion of a 90-day probationary period.
